Much to be thankful for

Yesterday, Zach and I attended church with Steven and participated in the wonderful spirit there. It was very nice to have Scott, Emily and baby Elizabeth join us as well. During the church service I was reminded of one of my favorite Christmas stories and wanted to share it. I love it because it reminds me of how much can be gained out of adversity and how the Lord never forgets us. This year with so many of our loved ones having difficulty its hard to get caught up in what we don't have instead of being grateful for what we do have. This year I am most grateful for my family and the two new precious lives that are now a part of it. I am so very grateful for children who live the gospel and for little ones who remind me to live it. I wish all my family and friends a very Merry Christmas! I love you.

Find comfort and peace

Family,

I have added some new video clips to our blog. I did this for the purpose of reminding all to heed our leaders council in all things and for those that need comfort at this time, they may find it. I love you all and want each of you to know I have a testimony of the truthfulness of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I know if we heed the prophets words and truly humble ourselves before the Lord as well as talk with him, he will answer our prayers and bless our lives with the things we need.

Jill's baby Shower

Steven and I just returned from Utah. We had a nice time with Travis and Jill and it was fun seeing the expecting parents as they prepare for baby "BAM". I hate to say it but I think "BAM" is a good description of what is about to occur in their lives. Brian Austin Miller is due to arrive on Thanksgiving day. I wonder which Bowl Game he will be born during?

Fall News

I can now say it is fall. The weather is nice in the morning and the air has changed. This kids are talking about Halloween and all the holiday planning has begun. Kids are on fall break right now and Jon is working on his honey do list at home. So, here is the kid by kid up date:

Steven is in Special Olympic swimming and has AZ state games in Surprise AZ, this weekend.
Zach is playing soccer and enjoys it even though he looks like a football punter when kicking.
Little Jade and Jon have really blossomed. They are looking healthier all the time and fitting in just like they have always been here. We still have questions about little Josiah, we are looking on getting him back with us too. The picture of all four little kids is one that was taken before Josiah went back to the res.

Our house has been really busy lately. We have a couple of new additions. Jade and John have joined our family. They are keeping us on our toes and giving us plenty of good laughs. Zach loves being the big brother. He started first grade and likes his teacher a lot. Elizabeth our new grand baby is really cute. Ok I said it. SHE is cute even though she's not a boy. It was fun having Scott and Emily sleep over. Family Sunday morning breakfasts are turning out to be a once a month tradition. I think we will keep it up. Thanks Eric for helping out. On our last trip up north we saw the sweetest site and what I think is the sign of a truly devoted parent. See the picture of the towed jeep below.

Wow what a weekend. Our new additions arrived. Jade age 1, Josiah age 2, and John age 3. Its just like old times. Zach is being a great big brother. These pictures are of Jade's first birthday. Much love to the kids mom for trying so hard and having enough courage to know when she needed help.

We are proud to announce the birth of our first grandchild. Baby girl Miller as she is known right now was born yesterday August 12th at 5:03 pm and weighed 6 lbs. 14 oz and is 201/2 inches. She is perfect. I think she looks like her mom. When the proud parents decide on a name we will share that as well.

Day Two. Sea World was fun. Relaxed and enjoyed people watching and Zach playing instead of focusing on shows. A great way to do Sea World if going more than one day.

Finally, time to add more summer pictures. Day one. We flew into San Diego, rented the car and found the resort. Hotel was great. Parrot show, park on the bay and playing in the sand all on the first day. We had to get used to the cool air though.

The herb garden is growing wild.
One very large happy dog. The grass dog run is done!

Lots of fun activities and more pictures to come: Back yard is near completion. We had a great time sleeping on the trampoline and cooking hot dogs in the fireplace. We are enjoying Peri Jo a couple of days a week this summer so more pictures to come of the great activities they are doing and then of course we have vacation coming in July!!! We may also have a couple of family surprises by the end of summer to share as well as pictures of new grandbaby ?Harley?????

Just had a wonderful time with family in Utah. We saw lots of sites, enjoyed great company, and did a lot of laughing - ask Steven about Scott loosing him out of the golf cart. No wonder Travis is the favorite brother.

A trip in the pines

Our trip to Nana's was a lot of fun and relaxing. We had fun picking up all the pine cones and raking needles. The trip brought back a lot of memories from my childhood. In fact, the old barn reminded me of one year when Terrie and I walked down the road wrapped in a blanket like a jelly roll because it was cold. Zach enjoyed the swing like all of us have done at one time or other too.

Just an FYI! The American Heart Association Heart and Stroke walk is February 28th at the Tempe Beach Park. My family will be walking in it again this year but with the special emphasis this year as both heart attacks and strokes have greatly affected our family.

My dad had his heart attack in May 2008 and of course we lost Nana to a major stroke as well.

Wow, how time flies. Another few weeks have passed and not much has changed. The cold and flu season hit us and wiped us out for several days but all is well now.

Zach: Is doing good in school, loves his new found independence and playing with the kids in the neighborhood

Steven: Sports, sports, sports! He's all up on the basketball team changes and keeping up the good work at the gym and workouts at home.

Jon: Had a wonderful birthday with his family all in town, and his working, working, working as the iep's never stop. He can't wait until spring break.

SharaDawn: Work, school, sleep. That is about all I do. Thank heavens for Jon as he really helps out a lot at home. Master's degree projects are NO FUN!

This was lots of fun - Eric shared veteran's day with Zach and went to his school. Zach participated in his first school program. Boy can he sing! Then he had a great birthday with is friends and cousins.

Hey family & Friends,

The Smith-Miller family has had a terrific week. This is what's new in our world:

1. Zach learned to count money. He is great with pennies and nickels.
2. Steven started Special Olympic basketball and of course is now dedicated again to working out with mom and the new Wii fitness program
3. Jon is busy with his students as usual, spending time working on IEP's but most of all he's been working in the yard pulling and killing all those nasty weeds that have invaded our desert landscape. He also has been harvesting our broccoli and cauliflower out of our garden. This has been really exciting.
4. SharaDawn has taken time off from school to get organized and start her master's degree project. Lit searches are really time consuming and no fun.
